Summary
Tamoxifen acts as an antagonist selective estrogen receptor (ER) and competitively blocks the binding of estrogen to the ER by promoting the growth inhibition and cell proliferation. This study aimed to assess oxidative damage in plasma proteins, the cell hemolysate and the leukocyte DNA from peripheral blood of thirty women diagnosed with breast cancer and of these twenty therapy with tamoxifen. The results for the parameters were significant for patients with breast cancer treated with tamoxifen, because, there was injury on plasma proteins, the cell hemolysate and leukocyte DNA of patients.
